A Letter to You:
Our clients are amazing. They trust us with some of the hardest moments of their lives - trauma, relationship challenges, shame, and sometimes the desire to no longer be alive. That level of trust speaks volumes about the therapeutic relationship you’ve built with your clients.
After more than 12 years in the field, including extensive crisis work - I know firsthand how heavy and intimidating conversations about suicide can feel. Not because we don’t care, but the opposite! We care so much and the stakes feel so high. In many ways, talking to people through some of the hardest and darkest moments of their life doesn't necessarily get easier, but we can build confidence, clarity, and skills that help us feel more grounded and equipped when it matters most.
That’s exactly why I created this training, Suicide is Not a Bad Word - Let’s Talk About it.
This training is designed to support you in a way that is relatable, non-judgmental, professional, and immediately applicable. I don't know about you, but the way I was taught to assess for suicide was by being handed a checklist "risk assessment" form without much else support. Big yikes. I don't want other mental health professionals to feel like they have operate out of fear or memorizing forms. I want to help you feel more comfortable having the hard conversations, trusting your clinical judgment, and knowing how to respond with confidence, competence, and compassion.
If I’m honest, I want to discuss this “taboo” topic in a way that’s engaging, practical, and far from intimidating. I get genuinely excited talking about suicide... yes, actually. And you can expect that kind of energy throughout the training. It’s my sh*t, and I know that’s not exactly the norm when it comes to discussing such a heavy topic, but that’s exactly why this training will stand out for you. I bring a unique blend of both personal and professional experiences with suicide to this training, ensuring it’s both deeply informed, educational, and relatable.
If we’re being honest, it’s not a matter of if suicide will come up in your work — it’s when. Whether you’re a graduate-level clinician, newly licensed, or a seasoned therapist looking to expand your confidence in this area, this training is designed to meet you where you are.
And really, thank you for all the work you do, for being here, and for investing in yourself and your clients. What you do makes a difference.
Let’s get talking!
See you soon,
Elyce
