Suicide Prevention, Loss, & More
Trainings, Presentations, & Speaking
Conversations about suicide and mental health need to feel grounded, relational, and practical - which is where I come in!
I provide customized trainings and speaking engagements for:
- Group therapy practices
- Mental health agencies
- School districts & universities
- Conferences
- Organizations & businesses
- Graduate programs & professional communities
While suicide prevention and suicide loss are core areas of my work, I also speak and train on other mental health topics. Each one can be tailored to your audience, goals, and needs.
Many suicide and mental health trainings focus on checklists, policies, or surface-level information. I know this because I have been on the other side of them for years! What I've found - for myself and for others, is those kinds of trainings leave people feeling unsure how to actually show up in these real (often difficult) moments as a real person.
What makes this different is my approach.
I combine:
- Foundational understandings of suicide
- Practical tools you can use immediately
- Relational and trauma-informed care
- Cultural awareness and nuance
- Energy that keeps people engaged (I know, I know, it sounds weird but I genuinely LOVE talking about suicide)
I don't want people feeling like they need to "memorize" their assessment forms or operate from a place of fear. I want to building confidence, clarity, and competence so people can respond with empathy and judgment - especially when it matters most.
Suicide Is Not a Bad Word - Let’s Talk About It
This training was created for professionals who know suicide will come up in their work, and they want to feel more grounded and equipped when it does. Because that's the reality - it isn't a matter of IF it will come up, but rather, WHEN.
Participants will gain a deeper, more nuanced understanding of suicide, including:
- Understanding suicide on a spectrum
- Key theories related to suicidality
- Relevant and current statistics
- Warning signs, risk factors, and protective factors with specific considerations for Black and Latinx individuals
- Self-injury and its relationship to suicidality
- Firearms and suicide risk
- Conducting thorough and thoughtful risk assessments
- Safety planning that’s collaborative
- Resources
This training is engaging, non-judgmental, professional, and immediately applicable - whether you’re a clinician, educator, or leader supporting others.
Trainings and speaking engagements can be tailored for:
- Mental health professionals
- New or seasoned clinicians
- Students, school staff (teachers, administrators, counselors, support staff)
- Leadership teams
- Community organizations
- Businesses seeking mental health education and awareness
In addition to my suicide training, I offer customized presentations on other topics, such as: Supporting individuals after suicide loss, anxiety, and other mental health topics.
Trainings can vary in length, format (virtual or in-person), and focus. Together, we will collaborate to create something that fits your needs.

THE IMPACT
As a psychologist and therapist specialized in men’s mental health, attending Elyce’s suicide training was critical and transformative for my practice. The training was not only comprehensive and insightful but also immediately applicable to my clinical work. Elyce’s expertise and compassionate approach make her the ideal facilitator for this critical subject. I highly recommend her training to any mental health professional seeking to deepen their understanding in suicide prevention (IMO we can never know too much in this topic).
- Audra Horney
I loved Elyce's way of taking what can be a taboo subject that people dance around and teaching both through pscyho-ed but mostly through her own vulnerability + modeling on how to make it something we can tangibility ask about, and talk about in order to really help create space for connection and healing with our clients and our community.
- Meagan Peterson
Elyce was an amazing presenter. She was very thorough with the information provided. Although the topic was heavy, Elyce remained engaging and energetic. I especially appreciated the vulnerability and sharing of her own lived experiences to help put things in perspective.
- Alanis Orina
I highly recommend Elyce's presentation. I found it incredible moving, insightful and useful for both myself in private practice and for my supervisees. I really appreciated the balance of statistics, videos, personal anecdotes and clinical application. I left feeling more knowledgeable regarding suicide prevention with both my clients and supervisees, as well as friends and family. I am most grateful!
